Michael Ashby has joined the Hunt Yachts team as Manager of Customer Service, Quality Control and Warranty. “Michael’s background is a unique combination of yacht design and project management,” says Hunt Yachts’ President Peter VanLancker. “His ability to interpret engineering designs, combined with his extensive knowledge of yacht construction, is a perfect fit for Hunt as we continue to grow and expand our manufacturing capacity.”
With more than 25 years’ experience in the marine industry, Michael will utilize his wide knowledge base in his position at Hunt. He will follow the build of each Hunt Yacht from start to finish, working as the liaison between the design/engineering and manufacturing teams. Then, should any warranty questions arise during initial ownership, Michael will handle the customer inquiry. He will also be the liaison to the vendors who supply parts to Hunt Yachts, from the engine to the electronics. “Any questions or concerns that a new owner has about his or her Hunt yacht can be answered with one phone call,” says Michael.
A native of Argentina, Michael is an American citizen who calls Newport, RI, home. He got his start in yacht design working for German Frers in Buenos Aires, and he came to the U.S. during his career as a professional crew member on maxi racing yachts. He worked as a yacht designer for the Ted Hood Design Group at Hood Enterprises (now our sister company, Hinckley Yachts) and later worked as project manager at Newport Shipyard, New England Boatworks, and Naiad prior to joining Hunt.
